SUSTAINABILITY AND DEVELOPMENT THROUGH DOCUMENTATION AND LICENCING
Supported by Museum Development North West (MDNW) this project devised and tested a sustainability model that used image licencing as an income generator for the Peter Scott Gallery (PSG) collection. The project had the documentation process at its heart and produced a ‘toolkit’ that captured the work and findings - it is available through the link below.

The project tested and improved PSG documentation procedures with the aim of building sustainable practices in to our everyday procedures. In addition to improving working methods and furthering knowledge about the PSG collection, the project will test the financial returns licencing can bring. At the time of writing income results are unknown and will form part of the learning process - in the long-term the ultimate aim is to have a collection that is able to contribute to its own care and development.
The project has furthered PSG’s work with volunteers and will also raise the profile of the collection by making it internationally accessible for reproduction purposes and will give greater access for staff, general enquiries and specialists such as researchers.
