Theatre & Concert Volunteers

Theatre and Concerts Volunteers work as part of the Front of House Team providing support and assistance for our performances.

Theatre and Concert Volunteers have real responsibilities. They are the face of Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University and we rely on them to offer outstanding customer care to our audiences. It is important that all of our volunteers have the aptitude, personality and confidence to provide this.

Theatre and Concerts Volunteers have the opportunity to watch a world class array of gigs, concerts, performances and theatre for free. They also have the opportunity to engage with an annual series of career development workshops and events and attend our lively staff and volunteer socials.

We encourage our volunteers to get involved with all aspects of our work and all volunteers are invited to apply for one of our Ambassador Roles.

How much time is required to be a Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University volunteer?

Many of our Theatre and Concerts Volunteers prefer to attend a particular series of events or type of production; others come on whichever night most suits them. Both are fine, though in season we do request volunteers attend at least once every three weeks. There will be times when reasonable circumstances, such as sickness and holidays, prevent them from attending. These are unavoidable and entirely accepted as reasons for non-attendance.

If you have to cancel your shift please inform the Engagement Manager as soon as possible. You can contact our Engagement Manager, Alix Medlyn Davies on 01524594165 or email

What should I wear?

Appearance is important to the impression we give our audience members. All Theatre and Concerts Volunteers are expected to wear smart black clothing.

To apply please download an application form. Contact Alix Medlyn Davies for casual conversation about the roles or to enquire about becoming a Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University volunteer.
