Big Imaginations are recruiting for an energetic and creative lead-artist(s) based in the North of England to research, develop and perform a brand-new piece of interactive performance for early years (0 to 4) children that can be performed in community and non-theatre settings such as libraries, nurseries and village halls.
The piece can be targeted to a specific age range within the early years group and the successful piece will be commissioned for Big Imaginations organisations across the North West, to take place in their local communities in 14 different community settings.
Alongside the performance will be an outreach programme to engage hard to reach and non-engaged children and families in each of the community settings. Each outreach programme will be 4 workshops. We would like to engage with these families and use their engagement in the workshops to support their transition into attending theatre in traditional theatre and arts venues.
The outreach programme could be delivered by the lead artist, or the lead artist could guide the delivery by workshop leaders if appropriate. The successful artist will be provided with a budget of up to £8000 to cover research and develop and to make the performance, including 14 performances (1 at each community venue). In addition the artist will be provided with:
- Rehearsal space will be given in kind by BI venues.
- Budget and resources for the Outreach Programme which must include 14 x 4 workshops, travel, materials and any additional visits and R&D.
Please note: Z-arts will manage the budget.
