WORKSHOP: Devising Dance & Physical Performance
Creative Workshops led by The Featherstonehaughs
Dates: 2nd or 3rd November 2011 (but these dates are slightly flexible dependent on interest)
Under the choreography of Lea Anderson, and with sister company The Cholmondeleys, The Featherstonehaughs are one of the most important and influential contemporary dance companies of the last 30 years. Alongside their double visit to the Nuffield with new show Edits and classic show ...Egon Schiele, the company invite you to join them in a highly physical, creative workshop to explore some of Lea’s striking, often unconventional approaches to choreography. Renowned for her use of and reference to visual images, film stills and sampling techniques, a Featherstonehaughs’ workshop offers a unique insight into ways of devising performance from a variety of art mediums.
Workshops introduce some of the unique creative methods applied and developed by Lea, encouraging participants to experiment with their own techniques and ideas in order to create new ways of moving and making work; turn convention on its head and think about devising dance theatre in a brand new light.
Ideal for those studying theatre, dance or performing arts, workshops are tailored to meet the needs of those participating from Key Stage 4 and beyond. Workshop packages can relate to work on tour or past company repertoire and can be aligned to specific curriculum learning outcomes.Special offer for autumn workshop bookers
All workshop bookers will receive a free Repertoire Celebration Pack containing 6 x DVD’s of the company’s repertoire.
The workshops can take place at Live at LICA or at your institution. Sessions last 3 hours.
