Adam Walker, flute & John Reid, piano
Donít miss the chance to hear this brilliant young flautist. The youngest winner, aged 14, of the British Society Flute Competition, Adam Walker was a concerto finalist in the 2004 BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition. As well as making successful debuts in recital and as a soloist with major orchestras, he appeared in a BBC documentary, How to make a Genius. His typically adventurous programme ranges from one of the bestloved Bach sonatas, and a potpourri of operatic melodies from Weberís ëmagicí opera woven together by the influential French flautist Claude-Paul Taffanel, to Debussyís sensuous Syrinx and a romantic sonata inspired by the water nymph Ondine by the German Carl Reinicke. The duo completes the concert with the best known work by the Georgian, Otar Taktakishvili, and a popular number from Sibeliusís music for a tragic pantomime around the old Italian braggard, Scaramouche.
