Colin Powell gives an alternative perspective on the life and times of former US Secretary of State Colin Powell. A twisted biography of comparison, the performance explores the increasingly ‘unnatural’ order of things embodied by the likes of Powell, expounding some theories as to why Powell looks the way he does and acted the way he did, with Deacon asking himself - is this really a self portrait?
Robin Deacon began working as a performer, writer and video artist in the early 1990's. His practice explores a journalistic, documentary approach, using the lecture format to re-enact autobiographical incidents. Recent performances include Harry & Me, an exploration of tokenism and unreliable memory, and Live, a series of performances documented by the medium of television.
