Conversations with the Collection (Part 3)
Over the last three years, Peter Scott Gallery has opened up its work and collections to local residents of all ages to co-curate three unique exhibitions. In the third and final instalment the Peter Scott Gallery, LUSU Involve and Green Close Studios involved around 100 people, including 80 pupils, in selecting and responding to the artworks in the gallery’s collections. This has led to a series of year-long relationships between the gallery, local schools, student volunteers and a lead artist.
In the resulting public exhibition you will find stunning artworks from the gallery collections displayed alongside the artistic responses made by the school-children involved. You will also gain an insight into how the project came together.
The schools involved in the project were Mossgate Primary School, Quernmore Primary School, Lancaster Girls Grammar School and Central Lancaster High.
Conversations with the Collection Part 3 was a partnership between Live at LICA, LUSU Involve and Green Close Studios.
Conversations with the Collection Part 1 (2010) saw professional artists and curators from a range of disciplines pair items chosen from the collection with their own artworks or newly-created pieces. Part 2 (2011) saw University and PSGallery support staff pair favourite collection artworks with texts, personal objects or artworks from elsewhere.
