Jan·cek - String Quartet No.2 'Intimate Letters'
Beethoven - String Quartet in E flat, Op.74 'Harp'

First prize-winners of the 2008 Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in Japan, the Doric String Quartet - now in its 11th season - is one of the outstanding quartets of its generation, appearing at Londonís Wigmore Hall as well as in Paris, Japan, Germany, Israel and South East Asia. It opens the 40th Anniversary Series with Jan·cek's finest chamber work, inspired by an intensely personal relationship, framed by the second of Haydnís set of quartets dedicated to the cello-playing King Frederick William II of Prussia, and Beethovenís lyrical ëHarpí Quartet, called after its extensive and attractive use of plucked strings.
