Goat Island Summer Workshop
Goat Island are a Chicago-based collaborative performance group. Since their inception in 1987, they have created eight performance works, and toured the US, Canada, UK and Europe, as well as producing a number of publications and film projects. They were invited to present their latest work at the Venice Biennale International Festival of Theatre in 2005.
The company’s renowned annual summer schools have influenced and inspired artists from all over the world. In 2006 this takes the form of a six-day workshop at the Nuffield Theatre at Lancaster University.
Directed by the interests of the participants as well as those of the instructors, this intensive workshop will examine disciplines of collaborative performance, as well as installation, writing, movement, structure, research and documentation. Sessions will combine theory and practice, investigating forms of thought and presentation, collaboration strategies, philosophical perspectives, and methods of individual and collective creativity.
Students and Artists of various disciplines are welcome, including visual and performing artists, filmmakers, choreographers and designers. A diverse mix of participants representing a broad range of age and professional/non-professional experience at the workshop will enrich the collaborative activities.
