Let us think of these things always. Let us speak of them never
After 9 performances as co-founders of Goat Island, Lin Hixon and Matthew Goulish and have formed a new company - Every house has a door.
Every house has a door was formed with the intention of creating project-specific collaborative productions as performative encounters, with irregular groups of international guests. This first piece, Let us think of these things always. Let us speak of them never, with artists Selma Banich and Mislav Čavajda from Zagreb, and Chicagoans Stephen Fiehn of Cupola Bobber and Matthew Goulish, proposes an encounter between Croatia and the US, through responses to an unlikely, "equidistant" third entity, Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. The performance extracts texts from an essay by Stanley Cavell, and re-enacts, by way of the performers copying the film in real time off computer screens, a scene captured in Dusan Makavejev's Sweet Movie of a grotesque feast in the commune overseen by Viennese Aktionist Otto Muehl in 1974. Let us think of these things always. Let us speak of them never will premier in 2010 with an international tour to follow.
The WIP is FREE, but you will need to RSVP via email to email@example.com if you wish to attend.
