Light Up Lancaster 15: People Pavilion
Confucius - People Pavilion
Friday 6 November
Starting at St Nics Arcade, 6pm
Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University and The Confucius Institute at Lancaster University present People Pavilion, a piece of temporary human architecture that will move and breathe through the streets of Lancaster.
Artists Laurence Payot and Ailie Rutherford have been working with members of Lancaster’s Chinese community to explore the traditional architectural structure of Chinese pavilions and lanterns, and to question how Chinese traditions survive or change when they are brought to the UK.
At times a meeting point, a quiet place to rest or a space to celebrate, People Pavilion will invite you to come in and experience Chinese culture in an unusual way.
Join us at 6pm inside St Nics Arcade or encounter People Pavilion in the streets of Lancaster.
