Make-believe

Following their unforgettable show Susan & Darren (Nuffield Theatre 2007), Quarantine are back with their latest theatre piece, the dark and joyous Make-believe.

Exploring big ideas through personal histories, Make-believe is performed by an extraordinary cast including real-life partners Yusra Warsama and Marcus Hercules, and their 2-year-old son Jaziel, and asks some tricky questions:-

What do you believe in? How do we manage to live together when we disagree so wildly with each other? How do you separate the real from the made-up in a piece of theatre?

Make-believe is a performance where real life doesn’t stop when the show starts… Working with philosopher Dr Michael Brady and writer Sonia Hughes, the company try to find out how belief works and see how much courage we have in our convictions.

It’s a stunning mash-up of loud dance, fast music and things you should only tell your best friend…

‘A truly wonderful company that uses the lives and experiences of real people as the starting point for all their shows and who put their subjects centre stage and let them speak for themselves.’ - Lyn Gardner, The Guardian

*A Night Less Ordinary - There are a limited number of free tickets available for this performance to those aged 16-25. Please contact the box office for further details.

Quarantine - Wed 25th November from 10am – 1pm

Quarantine ask questions: about the world we live in, about who theatre is for – and who should make it. Because of its form, content and the people who engage with what they do, the company see Quarantine's theatre as social action as well as artistic reflection. Quarantine’s masterclass will explore some of their approaches to devising Make Believe.
