Trevor Goose and his Dark Night of Lights
Reigniting our tradition of ending the season with an alternative Christmas event, we are delighted to present a first-time visit from the legendary Talking Birds.
IS IT A GIG? IS IT A PANTO? IS IT A MISJUDGED DANISH CABARET?
Well it’s all three, as performance heroes Talking Birds arrive in Lancaster with a Christmas Show for those who like their festive entertainment skewed and a little bit heartbreaking.
Trevor Goose and His Dark Night of Lights attempts to tell the tale of The Little Match Girl, but internal difficulties with the band – Hans Christian and the Andersons – as well as with a Danish tourism officer and a missing celebrity mean the evening soon turns into the spectacle of a cabaret coming face-to-face with it’s own dark failings.
Thankfully, the live music is divine and boasts a line-up of top-flight musicians, led by composer Derek Nisbet, who pull off a series of exhilarating musical numbers.
