How to get there:

Public Transport

Dunsop Bridge is accessible by bus but there is no train station. Buses run to Settle, Horton, and Clitheroe from nearby stops on all days except for Sundays.

Driving

Parking is at the Dunsop Bridge village car park — with 25 spaces, including two accessible bays. The car park is pay and display via card payment or the MiPermit app. An accessible toilet will be available here. We recommend putting Dunsop Bridge Car Park into your Sat Nav. There is an overflow car park located nearby that will be signposted.

Toilets

There are public toilets located at the car park, including an accessible toilet, which can be accessed using a Radar Key. We have one available at the welcome desk should you require. There are also accessible toilets located at Dunsop Bridge Village Hall if you are attended an activity there.

The Are You Lost? Installation

The installation itself will be located inside a disused barn, called Jinny's Barn. This is about a quarter of a mile, or a 10 minute walk from the Village Green.

Wheelchair access

The village green is accessible by wheelchair from the car park. From the car park, follow the path next to the toilets— cross the road carefully, via a dropped curb, then follow the track around the village green to the village centre. The path is unsurfaced, but level and about half a metre wide — with space to spread out if needed.

We have two all-terrain wheelchairs available to pre-book in advance. Please email areyoulost@lancasterarts.org with your preferred one-hour time slot (11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm) on Saturday and Sunday. Please book by 10am on Saturday 2 August to confirm your slot. The all-terrain wheelchairs will be required to get to Jinny's Barn, where the installation is situated. See the image below.

A barn in a field

The all-terrain wheelchair (Terrain Hopper) has throttle control. See the Access the Dales website for further details about the vehicle. You must have someone accompanying you to use one, and pre-booking is essential. An alternative route is provided for people using all terrain wheelchairs. Head out of the back of the car park, take the level, tarmac track which turns unsurfaced with loose stone. Turn right through a gap in the hedge, over a loose stone mound, and onto the grass playing field. From here, turn left and go across the field and through the gate in the field corner where you’ll see Puddleducks Tearooms.

Puddleducks Tearooms is about a quarter of a mile or a 10 minute walk from the barn where the installation is housed. You’ll pass the play park, a cattle grid, and a gate which is 0.9 metres wide and a grassy area to reach the barn — the all-terrain wheelchairs can cross these easily but please note the barn itself is not accessible to all terrain wheelchairs.

Accessible entrances

The barn has doorways measuring 0.85 metres wide and an uneven floor. Ordinarily it is a working farm barn. Please see image of the floor.

Further Access Support at the installation

The film element of the installation is not captioned, however there are printed transcripts of the text available on request and these come in both English Language and Urdu translations.

If you would like a guide who can walk you through the installation and provide verbal descriptions please speak to a member of staff and they will be happy to provide this.

Ear defenders are available for those who request them, please speak to a member of staff who will be able to provide these.

The installation will be quite dark to ensure the film can be viewed clearly but a torch is available if you would like one. Again, please ask a member of staff.

Additional Activities:

The following activities will be taking place:

Reflection area/ chill out space
A calm and quiet area for people to have conversations, refreshments, and to refelct on the installation. This is located on Dunsop Bridge Village Green. This will also include a listening station to hear the Are You Lost? podcasts. It is wheelchair accessible.

Conversations

1. We're not an AONB anymore! (Saturday 2 August, 12.30-1.45pm)

This conversation will take place in Dunsop Bridge Village Hall

The Village Hall is about a third of a mile uphill from Puddleducks Tearooms. The route is along a tarmacked road, but uneven in places, with an incline. There is no path or pavement, so please take care of traffic whilst travelling along the roadside to the hall. A small number of parking spaces are available here for those with limited mobility. Both the entrance and the doors to the main hall are double doors which open fully to accommodate everyone. It's all level access into and through the entrance and into the hall and disabled toilet. There are grab rails and baby changing facilities in the disabled toilet.

Workshops

All workshops will take place on Dunsop Bridge Village Green, which is wheelchair accessible. Please find a list of all workshops and times with booking links on the Are You Lost? event page.

Guided Walks

All the guided walks will begin at Dunsop Bridge Village green. The walks will be at a gentle pace and last between 45 minutes and 1 hour 30 minutes. They will be across a variety of different terrains and unfortunately are not recommended for wheelchairs. Please find a list of all the guided walks on the Are You Lost? event page.

As always, if you have any questions please email areyoulost@lancasterarts.org.
