Where We Are

Most of our events take place at the Nuffield Theatre, Peter Scott Gallery and Great Hall which are all located in the Great Hall Complex on Lancaster University campus. 

Some events take place at the University library or in the city centre. Please check the What’s On pages to see where your event is located.

Walking and Cycling 

We’re approximately 3 miles from Lancaster city centre, and there are a number of scenic routes to the campus. Here is a cycling map and a walking map.

Buses 

Buses run every 10 – 20 minutes from the city centre to campus. You can plan your journey using Stagecoach journey planner. Once on campus, disembark at the underpass, take the stairs or lift to Alexander Square, and follow the North Spine to the Great Hall Complex, or find the library on the Square. 

Trains 

Lancaster Railway Station is in the city centre, with frequent direct bus links to campus. 

Taxis 

The Chaplaincy Centre taxi rank is closest to Lancaster Arts. 

Driving 

Use the LA1 4YW postcode with your Sat Nav, or follow road signs to the University. Once on the main University drive, take the first exit left from the roundabout and park in Visitor Zone A. Visitor Parking is currently free in any zone on campus after 6pm and all day during the weekends. From 1 October 2025 there will no longer be any free parking at the University.

For weekday parking use the pay and display machines or purchase a parking scratch card at the Reception Lodge.
