Building accessibility

The Great Hall Complex was built in 1964 with entrances on multiple levels. As such please be aware that you may occasionally find that accessing certain venues requires those in wheelchairs or with reduced mobility to access the venue through set routes. You will be advised on this upon your arrival.

The Great Hall Complex has two main entrances:

  • The Main Accessible Entrance provides step-free access to the ground floor of the Great Hall Complex. This will get you level access to the Great Hall itself.

  • The right side entrance from North Spine provides step-free level access to the A floor of the Great Hall Complex. This will get you level access to the Nuffied Theatre.

  • There are automatic double doors at both these entrances.

There is one accessible toilet located in the Great Hall Complex, this is most easily accessed through the North Spine entrance.

Detailed information about the access of the Great Hall Complex can be found here.

Below is a video showing the accessible journey from the Underpass bus stop at Lancaster University to the Nuffield Theatre.

Please check the what’s on pages for any additional access information about your event.
