The Are You Lost? Installation

AYL will be open during Pendle Festival of Culture, which will use the lengths of Scotland Rd and Market Street in Nelson Town Centre.

There will be festival stands and stalls along both roads, so there is no direct access to AYL by car. Scotland Road is smoothly paved and can be accessed by wheelchair. The area of road used by Pendle Festival of Culture is around 100m long, the AYL site is halfway down this road.

Accessible entrances

There is a dropped kerb to the right of Building Bridges Pendle, which allows for wheelchair access to the pavement.

The installation will be entered via a door on the front of the building. This door has a step of around 10cm. There will be a ramp to allow wheelchair access. The door width is 85cm. Inside there will be a large curtain blocking light from the windows at the front of the building. A staff member or companion will hold aside the curtain to allow easier wheelchair access.

The installation on the ground floor of Building Bridges Pendle will include projections of video, sound, and hanging/standing textiles work and there is a bench with room for three people.

Care will be taken to ensure that sculptures and other elements such as plinths, benches, and scaffold are placed allowing for a wheelchair accessible route through the installation.

Those who require wheelchair access will exit through the same door they came in.

An image of the entrance can be found below.
