Tai Murray and Martin Roscoe

Tai Murray and Martin Roscoe

Concerts

Lancaster Arts favourite Martin Roscoe returns to the Great Hall, this time with American violinist Tai Murray, with the same programme they performed last spring at the Barbican.

This programme connects pieces through their fascinating relationship with rhythm. Adams’ Road Movies, for instance, plays with time in each movement. Is there a concept more tied to our theme of Ritual, than that of the passing of time itself?

Tai Murray has performed as a guest soloist for some of the world’s leading ensembles, including all of the BBC Symphony Orchestras. Martin Roscoe is one of the UK’s best loved pianists, thanks to his deeply thoughtful musicianship and his easy rapport with audiences and fellow musicians alike.

Together, Murray and Roscoe’s musical chemistry comes naturally, providing a joyful evening for audiences.

Programme includes:

Ellen Taaffe
Romance for Violin and Piano

John Adams
Road Movies

Arvo Pärt
Passacaglia

Robert Schumann
3 Romances Op 94

Schubert
Grand Duo A Major D 574

“Roscoe is a pianist who both thinks and offers full-blooded playing of breadth and depth. In this country, he is an uncommon creature.”
