To round off the first day of Lancaster's inaugural feminist festival Hear Me Roar! we bring you an ecclectic triple bill by Northern artists. The Rose Company, Jack Heaton & Ruby Henderson and Eggs Collective present extracts and works in progress of their latest creations.
This event is part of Hear Me Roar! a Lancaster Arts City First Friday festival presented in association with the Centre for Gender and Women’s Studies.
The Rose Company - The Frolicks
The Rose Company, Lancaster's all-female classical theatre company, present a rehearsed reading of extracts from The Frolicks by Elizabeth Polewheele. Written in 1671, this is a hugely entertaining Restoration comedy with a feminist edge. It involves seduction, cross-dressing, dancing, mistaken-identities and mayhem - much of this orchestrated by the witty heroine, Clarabell as part of her scheme to reform the rake Rightwell. Don't miss this opportunity to become acquainted with a play which in spite (or because) of its daring wit, has not been performed since it was written.

Jack Heaton - No woman, no cry
