It is a great delight to present Lancaster University’s newly appointed University Organist, Michael Wynne. Michael will lead us through a fascinating musical exploration of our instrument, in a selection of works designed to help us hear it at its finest. Michael also offers the audience a chance to inspect and try the instrument during a unique hands-on pre-concert talk.
Due to exceptional circumstances, Michael has had to make a major change to this evening's programme and will now perform the following works:
 F.MENDELSSOHN Allegro, Chorale & Fugue
J.S. BACH 2 Chorale Preludes from Das Orgelbüchlein
  Prelude & Fugue in D
Toccata and Fugue in D minor
 M.DUPRÉ Lamento
F.MENDELSSOHN Sonata VI (Vater unser im Himmelreich)
J.S. BACH Sinfonia:“Wir danken dir Gott”
The composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn are inextricably linked, as Mendelssohn was almost single-handedly responsible for bringing Bach out of obscurity and taking his music back to the public. University organist, Michael Wynne, has put together a captivating blend of works by both composers, as well as a heartbreaking centrepiece by Dupré.
