Painting as Documentation Art

Painting as Documentation Art

Exhibitions

LICA PhD student Young Maeng presents her final show in the Peter Scott Gallery.

This exhibition is the outcome of Young’s art-practice based PhD research at LICA which explores the boundaries between painting and film, and reinvents the process of Korean Bunche painting as Documentation Art. Bunche painting refers to a traditional Korean painting technique which uses powder pigments mixed with water glue on Korean paper in multiple layers. Through the process of making Documentation Art, Young aims to rediscover French philosopher Gilles Deleuze’s theory of art as the aesthetics of Transcendental Realism in relation to Korean True-view realism.

Young will host an Evening with the Artist on Thursday 15 December, 5.30-7.30 - all are welcome to attend.
