Red Rose Rising is a newly formed youth musical theatre group for young people aged 12–21 from the Lancaster and Morecambe area.
Created to provide a supportive, inclusive, and inspiring space, the group aims to develop confidence, creativity, and performance skills while fostering a strong sense of teamwork and community.
This production of Into the Woods JR. marks Red Rose Rising’s very first musical — a major milestone for both the company and its young performers. Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s much-loved musical cleverly intertwines familiar fairy tales, following characters as they venture into the woods in search of their wishes, only to discover that “happily ever after” is more complicated than it seems. With humour, heart, and honesty, Into the Woods JR. explores themes of responsibility, growing up, and the importance of working together.
Red Rose Rising is proud to bring this magical story to the Nuffield Theatre stage, showcasing the talent, dedication, and passion of local young people in their debut performance.
