Please join us! Audition Notice

Jamie Wooldridge

Canadian theatre company, Zuppa and Lancaster Arts are collaborating to create an exciting site-specific outdoor production to take place in Morecambe in the summer of 2023 entitled This is Nowhere. We will be auditioning for 25+ roles for this large-scale upcoming production.

What is This is Nowhere?

This is Nowhere is a free public performance about a town’s past, present and future. The streets, buildings, nooks and crannies of Morecambe are the stage, and each audience member is sent on a solitary journey through the streets and buildings. Guided by a phone app, they find hidden performances: maybe a conversation overheard in a restaurant, a one-on-one chat with a character, or an interaction that they watch through the window of a building. Sometimes it will be very clear what to look at or listen to. Other times, it will be hard to tell where the show ends and real life begins.

You can find out more about the project on Alex McLean's blog here

Who can audition?

Would you like to be part of a one-of-a-kind public performance? Are you excited by a challenge? Are you dependable, with an ability to keep focus, commit to a role, work alone and as part of a team? If so, you might be a perfect fit for This is Nowhere.

This is a paid opportunity.

Most roles are for adults (18 +) but there will be two roles for younger actors (ages 10-17). If you’re interested: apply. There could be a role for you!

Please prepare a short contemporary monologue (3 minutes or less). During the audition, we may also ask you to read script samples.

Everyone is welcome. If you’re interested, we encourage you to audition. There are roles for trained professionals and non-professionals. We value diversity in casting and seek applications from people of the Global Majority and D/deaf disabled and neurodivergent artists.
